This diner really has a unique brand image. They took the trashy appeal of a diner and made it more elegant and competitive in today’s food and design industry. The appeal of this diner to customers is probably more substantial then it was before they had this unique design. The message is very effective and they didn’t even use any colours.

I love the crazy things you can do with a pen/pencil and paper.I used to be heavily into fine arts and never relied on a computer to design for me. Its neat to look at the simple mediums and look at things that weren’t made on the computer, it really helps with process work.

This is an effective way to get a strong message across. I often see these messages written in black and red, but really these colour combination always works for this kind of design piece. There really is no other design element about this other than the huge typography, but that’s all it really needs, and I think the message would be ruined if there were graphics as well.

Edward Gorey has some really neat illustration work and I often find myself coming up with unique creatures like his when I’m doodling in a random sketchbook. It’s funny that most of his work is applied to children’s books because I wouldn’t immediatly associate it with kids.

This is really cool because it is done completely in Illustrator but the way they made it pop off the page was the stand out point. The colours red and black really pop and draw attention and the one large image of a pencil makes you wonder what the poster is about.

I have seen many project like this and I always enjoy seeing what things they can make out of the triangle. Triangles have interesting folding properties and I think we can come up with alot of good stuff by utilizing this shape and applying it to more everyday packages and products.

This product was inspired by a wooden button, and you can really tell. It is a neat way to capture something so little and common n our world and turn it into a chair. It would be interesting to see what else they can make chairs out of.

This is similar to the kind of work I produce and enjoy. It is flat vector work but it uses an interesting layout and typography to really make it pop. Also the color is my favorite, and really stands out to me.

This work really captures the essence of the company, a tropical travel agency. Rather than sticking to one tropic color, they made it super colorful, and it really stands out because not many companies do this.

I chose this piece as inspiration because it is just really fun to look at. It is an interesting mix of colours without being tacky, and the design is really simple. It is completely made out of lines and it would be cool to see other letters done like this.

This is really inspiring because it’s nice to see that you can still make something fun without over designing the package. Rather than just focusing on the outer package, these clever designers used the inside as well, and it effects the way we look at the actual contents inside.
